24 Weeks

Baby isn't just sitting around doing nothing, she's working hard preparing for life outside the womb—perfecting her lungs and packing on the pounds. She'll gain ½ pound this week alone.
Things are starting to get a little crowded inside the old womb as baby grows bigger and bigger.

Baby's ears are fully functional now. And since they are, loud noises and sudden movements can startle the little bugger. She's getting used to the everyday sounds inside the womb: the sound of my heart beating, my lungs inhaling and exhaling air, the growling of my stomach.

Baby's got a fully developed inner ear now. This means her sense of balance is working and she can tell whether he's hanging upside down or right side up.

23 Weeks

Baby's got a while to go before her lungs will be ready for air and is practicing her "breathing" on the amniotic fluid—sucking it in and out of her lungs. Other highlights this week:

Fat production is in overdrive at this point. Your baby will basically double in weight over the next four weeks! You'll be happy to know the same won't apply to you.

Baby is starting to look more like a newborn as her skin becomes less see-through. Her body is looking more proportional now, although her head is still kinda big compared to her cute little body.

Baby is about 11½ inches long and weighs 1 pound, or about the length and weight of a Harry Potter book.

And finally, what every girl needs: CLOTHES!! We got some from my Aunt Pam, cousins Lindsay and Ashley, and my mom.



More exciting news, WE REGISTERED!!! YAY! We have registries at Babies R Us, and Target.

Bedding

I almost had a heart attack today when I found out that the baby bedding I fell in love with had been discontinued earlier this summer! I guess it took a while for me to figure it out. I talked to my mom and she came to the rescue and we ordered it today off of Amazon. I'm so excited!!



I guess getting it this early I will figure out whether I love it as much when I see it in person. All the reviews say it is aqua and good for a boy or girl. I think it is just so pretty.

I'm also in the first stages of making a butterfly chandelier like this one:

I think baby will have a very pretty and calming nursery!!

22 Weeks

The baby's hands have grown bigger and stronger and the nerve endings in her fingers have developed her sense of touch. She's in there testing out her newfound abilities by touching her face and grabbing the umbilical cord.

Baby's hair is now a short, bright white crop. No matter what color it will end up—RED, blonde, black—all babies' hair lacks pigment at this point.

The baby has started growing taste buds and may be able to detect strong flavors in the amniotic fluid. If you could see inside, you might catch her sticking out her tongue for a taste and then grimacing.

The baby now weighs almost a pound and measures almost 11 inches, head to heel.

In other news, we ordered our first gift courtesy of momma Meyer. OUR CRIB!!!

We should have it by the end of the month or early February. I can't wait.

My parents are coming into town next weekend, my mom and I are going to go and register. I'm excited because she bought some things for baby and I can't wait to see them. It's all starting to come along now!! I don't know whether to be excited or scared!

21 Weeks

Mind you, this week's picture goes for length. Baby girl is gulping down lots of amniotic fluid now for hydration and nutrition, and to practice swallowing and digestion. Studies show that babies are more interested in tastes they've already experienced through the amniotic fluid. Maybe I should start eating more vegetables.

We spent the weekend in Michigan visiting Scott, Melody, and the kids. Our new niece Arianna was born on December 16th, so we met her for the first time. Eric is totally in love with her and can't wait to meet his own little girl. I kept my distance because Eric was nice enough to give me his cold this weekend, I'm hoping to rest as much as possible and get rid of it soon.

20 Weeks

The baby has established sleep patterns like a newborn now. Many babies even have a favorite sleep position already. If the baby is a boy, the testes have begun descending from the pelvis into the scrotum. If it's a girl, her uterus is completely formed and the rest of her "parts" are in development.

Tomorrow is the Big Day! We find out if we are having a boy or girl. Let's hope that the baby isn't shy! I'll make sure that I post tomorrow to let everyone know.
