20 Weeks

The baby has established sleep patterns like a newborn now. Many babies even have a favorite sleep position already. If the baby is a boy, the testes have begun descending from the pelvis into the scrotum. If it's a girl, her uterus is completely formed and the rest of her "parts" are in development.

Tomorrow is the Big Day! We find out if we are having a boy or girl. Let's hope that the baby isn't shy! I'll make sure that I post tomorrow to let everyone know.

19 Weeks and a Belly Shot

Vernix, a milky white coating that protects your baby's skin, appears all over the baby's body to keep the skin from getting pickled in the amniotic fluid. A fuzzy layer of hair called lanugo now covers baby's body.

This weekend we are attending our family Christmas parties. So we got a really fun belly shot this week. Hope you enjoy!!

18 Weeks

The baby has become very mobile this week passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. I've been feelings these movements on and off for a few days now. Eric is trying to get me to distinguish whether the baby is doing freestyle, butterfly or breastroke kick. Maybe later I can figure it out!

The baby can now hear us this week, so we'll have to speak a little more intellectually and get out some textbooks to read to it. The baby's nerves are making more and more complex connections. It's sense of smell, taste, sight and hearing are all developing.

Last night, Eric and I finally ventured out and bought some maternity clothes. I bought a pair of jeans at Old Navy, they are a little big on me, but I wanted to make sure they would be able to last the whole nine months without buying more. They also had some great sales and I got a dress for $3 and a shirt for $4. Then we went to Gap and I got a new sweater, which I'll be wearing tonight to my gym's holiday party. Hope it's fun!

16 more days until the big ultrasound!! Get your votes in, haha

17 Weeks

This week the baby's skeleton is hardening and changing from cartilage to bone, and growing some fat. The baby's weight will increase by six times over the next 4 weeks. Lastly the baby's nails are starting to grow.

If you haven't noticed I put up a poll on the right hand side of the blog. Make sure you vote!

16 Week Appointment

Had our 16 week appointment today and all is going well. I'm right on track with my weight and 'growth'. We heard the baby's heartbeat again and it's holding steady at 162. The doctor wasn't concerned with my blood pressure, I guess it is supposed to be lower in the 2nd trimester. Had yet another blood test today, this one is for the AFP test which is part of the genetic testing we decided to do. I'm sure all of that will turn out just fine. Lastly, we made our 20 week and ultrasound appointment. We were hoping to find out the sex by Christmas, but we'll have to wait a few more days. The appointment is scheduled for December 29th. Can't wait to find out if we're having a boy or girl!!

16 Weeks

This week the baby's muscles are getting stronger, that way he/she will be able to set many world records in the future. The heart is already pumping about 25 quarts of blood a day. Plus the baby is practicing it's facial expressions, yawning, grimacing, and squinting.

As far as me, I've been feeling pretty good. Still suffering from headaches almost every day and my blood pressure has been pretty low. An example reading would be 96/40, but luckily I've been trying to drink more water and my blood pressure tonight was 111/66. I go to the doctor this Tuesday the 2nd and I'll make sure I mention that to her. This will be visit with doctor #3, I have 4 doctors in total (all women), I have to meet them all because we won't know who will be there on birth day. So far I like the first 2 and I'm sure I'll like the other 2 also. If anything interesting happens on Tuesday I'll post about it.
